The sun was very welcome today after the weekend ride in the rain. There was a little north wind, but it wasn't brutal. I still had some climb left in the legs and got up Pine Street in surprising good shape. Kept the momentum up the rest of the Steuben Street hill and into the wind to Reading Center. Rolled into Dundee at over a fifteen average and thought I might be able to claim a coveted eighteen overall if I caught the anticipated tailwind home. Wind worked out alright but construction on the downhill north of Watkins has closed down one of the lanes and further damaged the road. The rest of the construction through Watkins further limited my speed and denied me the eighteen. Pretty good ride overall. Climbing has progressed from abysmal to mediocre but speed is still lacking. Would like to work on the speed with some time trialing but the highway department has torn the shoulders up so bad on SR 14 south of Montour that the ITT course is too hazardous. I already destroyed a front wheel this year riding the shoulder where I assume concrete core samples were taken.
