Andre has been wanting to ride from Heritage Park in Simpsonville to Gray Court and back for some time. We were going to do it last week, but the ride was washed out by a day of heavy rains. Today was the day. We left Heritage Park shortly after 9 a.m. and hit the frontage roads along I-385 until Old Laurens Road broke away from the interstate and headed toward Owings and Gary Court. We stopped at a service station in Gray Court for drinks. I drank my Gatorade and bought a Frost Gatorade to refill my bottle. Then we took 92 and 101 back across I-385. The alternate return route was fairly hilly and really pointed out my wimpy thighs that aren't ready to climb. We had also turned back into the wind, so I struggled up the hills. But struggling up the hills is how I'll rebuild my thighs, so I can't complain. I made a wrong turn going back, so we took a little detour on a couple of shaded roads. Andre found a nice Publix umbrella along the way and had a time mounting it to his bike to get it home. I had a good time and survived the ride with the end in the high sun. Afterward we ate at Pete's in Simpsonville and had a good time talking.
