Another mistake by the weather channel had me doing a ride I hadn't planned on. Forecast indicated significant rain all day but it cleared up in the afternoon. Radar showed some scattered showers far to the west so I thought I would try to get a quick ride in before it showed up. Planned on going up Johnson Hollow but it turned out to be such a nice day I thought I'd add another ten miles and head up Burch Hill instead. Somehow Burch Hill has gotten much steeper than when I last rode it in the early spring. So had a little struggling to do on an otherwise comfortable ride. Once the hill was out of the way I motored easily down into Horseheads via Middle Road. Thought I would have an easy ride back to Montour with a gentle west wind but the wind seemed to be in my face all the way back from Pine Valley. Finished off the ride and it still seemed really nice with no sign of any rain, so I turned around and rode the tailwind back up to Johnson Hollow and did that loop. Climb went okay but legs got a little weak when I hit the west wind over the top of the steep section and had to go to touring speed to finish off the ride.
