Ride Description: Rustler's Loop... W/Sue...
This is a "beginner" trail, it even had instructional signs with riding tips along the trail. But it was fun and had nice scenery. I had to walk 3 sections, 2 because I was not familiar with the trail and picked a bad line, and one step-up rock section was a little above my abilities.

The most difficult part of the ride was the gravel road from the tralhead to the trail. Big steep hills.

It was too cold and windy to ride another loop.

Before leaving town, we got in a short ride at one of Sagebum's favorite trails, Rustler's Loop. Thanx for the tip Sagebum!

Unfortunatly, it was a cool 50°, which is normally perfect riding conditions in the midwest, but in the desert, with 30-50 mph winds, it was downright chilly!
Sue's wearing her new down jacket, and I'm wearing the jacket I normally wear while Ice Biking.

This is a "beginner" trail in Fruita, and even has informative riding tips for the novice rider.

I did have to get off and walk 3 times. Twice because I was not familiar with the trail and took bad lines, and once because of a rocky step-up section that was above my abilities.
The trail is scenic and fun. What else could you ask for?
The toughest part of the trail was the steep gravel road ride from Kokopelli's TrailHead to the loop.

Fruita is also home of the legendary Mike The Headless Chicken.

I was familiar with the story of Mike from my youth, listening to Chicago's WLS and Animal Stories with Larry Lujack & Lil' Tommy.

It took me a long time to convince Sue of the authenticity of the headless chicken story.

Nearby Grand Junction also is the home of Dinosaur Hill.
