 Logan\Time Trial

Finally got a day worthy of May. Rain threatened for the afternoon time trial and general response was that people might show up if it didn't rain. Didn't want to either wait to maybe ride in the afternoon when it was sunny and 80 F early in the morning so I opted for a short ride. Had a south wind today and even though it was blowing hard it was warm enough to be pleasant. Decided to do the Logan ride in the small chainring in the morning. South wind helped push me up the climb and the ride turned into a good day to be alive experience. Even though it was an in your face wind on the way back, the descent evened it out and kept good speed spinning. Saw another rider today climbing up 414 S out of Watkins as I was going down. Traffic was heavy in Watkins and combination of stop signs and traffic lights really took a toll on the average speed. Turned out to be a great ride especially after yesterday's disaster where I thought my legs might be shot for good.
Temperature was in the low nineties for the timetrial in the afternoon and severe thunder storms and a possible tornado were threatening. Only one other rider showed up today and we got to it after a warm up ride to Watkins and back. Made it almost a minute into the trial before the sky opened up and huge raindrops started pelting me. The wind became very blustery and really threw my aero wheels around. Kept it steady though and got out of the storm in under a mile and roads were dry for the rest of the day. Had a descent ride uphill into the wind but it wasn't spectacular. Hit some blistering speeds with the downhill and strong tailwind on the way back but couldn't hold it all the way. Legs performed well but didn't quite have enough yet to push the big gears for extended periods. Was satisfied that the speed was over a mile an hour faster than last month. Just bearly caught my minute man who was riding without aero equipment.
