Got some sun today but still a little cool for May. Thunderstorms were threatening but got a shorter than planned ride in and tried to avoid the rain. A mild south wind pushed me up SR 14 out of Watkins and felt good on the climb but still finished with a below average result but as it was my first climb of the hill this year, it is still to early to determine how the climbing legs are going to work this year. Pleasant ride to Glenora with the tailwind and tried to maintain a solid spin. Went over the hill to Dundee from Lakemont and though I wanted to stay in the saddle all of today's outing, I was forced out on a short eleven percent grade when my speed dropped into suck mode. Had another good sitting spinning climb out of Dundee on SR 14A and average speed kept climbing. Nasty looking thunderclouds threatened but stayed mostly on the eastern side of the lake. Thought I might get an above average time out of it after a strong downhill but lost momentum going through the traffic in Watkins and ran out of leg the final two miles to Montour. Roads were wet in Montour and it appears that I had lucked out and rode around the rain. Felt good after the ride and was pleased with two good rides in a row.
