Weekend was another no show for me as another windy cold front moved through the area. I almost went to the race in Addison on Saturday until the forecast was changed to a possibility of showers. I had little interest in riding in a wet windy fifty degrees. It did clear up at home late in the day after a few showers. Got dressed up and headed out the door just as another shower hit, and I gave up on riding at all. It started to heat up a little today although there was still a cold gusty north wind. I was unable to get out until late today and almost called today's ride off when some nasty looking clouds came through. Headed out for a short ride with intention of going to Dundee if I had a good climb out of Watkins and Rock Stream if I took too long on the hill. Pushed a cold wind to Watkins and had a rather poor climb. I did stay out of the saddle for the step section between the railroad bridge and Reading Center. It wasn't very efficient and was a little painful, but I actual felt much better after the climb and had a decent ride after that. Downhill into Rock Stream was quite cold but tolerable with my only issue being numb fingers and ears. Really didn't expect that in May. Pushed a big gear easily once I hit the tailwind on 14 and cruised home at an easy pace. Tried to pick the speed up a couple of times but it just made me colder. Settled into an easy cadence and finished off the ride. Would have been a great day for March but seemed to be lacking a little for May.
