Temperature started cool but pleasant today but the sun was putting out the heat and it warmed up into the eighties by the end of the ride. Headed out to Talladega County for a brisk ride with some rolling hills. Passed a church with a rest stop and noticed pavement markings on the other side of the road. Obviously someone was having a cycling event in the area. Too bad I couldn't find it on the internet as I would have liked to have done a group ride today. Soon was passed by a group of ten or so riders going the other way and being followed by a chase car. Saw another dozen or so riders strung out in singles and pairs for the next ten miles. Got quite a few odd looks and figured they must be thinking that I was lost or they were. Took a little detour and rode around the Talladega Motor Speedway although there wasn't much to see but the back of the grandstands and empty parking lots. Did have a strange encounter with some locust type bugs. One section of the woods I passed through was full of these humming insects that made so much noise it was difficult to hear. Not sure what they were up to but I'm sure it was no good. Legs felt good today and had pretty good speed but didn't open it up as I wanted to be fresh for tomorrow if the Atlanta trip falls into place.
