Fairly cool today with the north wind but overall good riding weather. Did two climbs today. The first was another climb up Havana that went about normal. Caught a tailwind out of Odessa and it really made the trip to the junction easier and faster. Had a good average speed going into the approach of the Arnot Forest climb and spun aggressively up the slope into a headwind. Made it a mile or so before the legs lost impetus and began to shed speed. The Forest climb has a series of steep steps I suffered through interrupted by three percent grades that actually seem like they are flat after the steep sections as the pressure comes off the legs. Didn't see any bears or lightning today which was disappointing, but there were some turkeys that was a plus. Headwind stifled the normally fast downhill into Newfield and spent time recovering from the climb. After that it was crank out some miles on SR 13 before the final descent down Jackson Hill. Nice riding today. I am starting to enjoy the climbing again but am really lacking in climbing ability.
