The rain, wind and March temperatures let up for awhile, and I got back on the bike after nine days of doing absolutely nothing of the athletic nature. It was only mid- fifties and a cold north wind was blowing, but as long as I was in the sun it wasn't really bad riding weather. I felt pretty bloated on the bike and didn't know what to expect from my body, so I opted for a short ride with minor climbing. I pushed a big gear at a low cadence for the first seven miles of tailwind and then spun up the first and only climb. The steepish part of the climb went a bit slow, but my spin kicked in on the shallower section and made good time. Legs were definitely rested and my weak link was my lungs, as they were burning as I got to the second turn. Caught a little headwind across SR 414 and had good speed on the downhill. Lost lots of time and my concentration waiting to get through the construction on SR 14 but was pleased with my near seventeen average after taking so much time off.
