Our first day, no messing around, we decided to do one of the longer and more difficult hikes in the park. It's also one of the most popular, The Angels Landing Trail. www.zionnational-park.com/zion-angels-landing-trail.htm
After the Angels Landing hike, we went on a shorter hike, to the Weeping Rock. www.zionnational-park.com/zion-weeping-rock-trail.htm
Photo #1... At the bottom, going up.
Photo #2... The trail ends at the top of the rock formation on the left.
Photo #3... There's always a nice view behind you as you climb.
Photo #4... Switchbacks... lots of them.
Photo #5... The final climb to Angels Landing. We were pretty tired at this point, and after a fairly technical and tough climbing section to reach this point, we decided to stop here. The trail to the end looked pretty technical, there's one spot that is 3 feet wide, with an 800 foot drop on one side, and a 1200 foot drop on the other side.
Photo #6... We ate lunch at Scout's Lookout. Watching people hike the treacherous rocky trail ahead.
Photo #7... The view as we ate.
Photo #8... How the heck do they get the barrels of poo down from here?
Photo #9... Dangerous trail. We later heard that another hiker fell to their death today.
Photo #10... Walter's Wiggles.
Photo #11... Did I mention the switchbacks?
Photo #12... Finally some shade in Refrigerator Canyon.
Photo #13... Cactus in full bloom.
