On my way home I decided to try taking the Prairie Path segment from Elgin to West Chicago. Amoung the highlights of this trail are: loose gravel, flooded low areas, dangerous construction zones, horse turds galore, and breaks in the trail. What a mess.
When I finally got to West Chicago, I decided to take roads back home. I then got lost in a subdivision, which seemed to be a traffic maze with no way out. Some kind lady advised me to keep turning right and that that would take me around the perimeter of the subdivision and then intersect with a road with which I was familiar. It worked. I finally made my way over to the Fox River Trail and followed that to home.
