Heavy rains kept me off the bike yesterday and winds today had me opting to keep my milage lower to hopefully recover from the cold or virus or whatever has been draining my energy. Headed over Mud Lake to Weston. Didn't do much on the lower part of the climb but put some effort in several miles of the five percent grade. Didn't feel too bad and actually enjoyed trying to keep up with the mowing tractors that were also making the climb. Downhill on Sebring Hill is always a treat especially passing the all knowing tree. West wind kept the speed below fifty. Bridge has been finished outside of Tyrone so didn't have to detour. Run along Waneta Lake wasn't as bad as I anticipated as the tree cover provided some shelter from the wind as well as a scenic boost. Rolled over the climbs east of Wayne fairly well but was a little disappointed in the road surface on the descents as they were quite bumpy but not treacherous. Headed up Ray Crosby Hill and down Gravel Run rather that continueing on the highway into town. Final climb out of Dundee was fun as it is a moderate grade and with the tailwind made me feel I was climbing well. Did the math and thought I could pick the average speed up to seventeen with a spirited ride in the tailwind and downhill to Watkins. Didn't have the legs of old unfortunately and although I had a few good sections, I couldn't keep the speed consistent. Lost any chance of it passing through the lights and traffic of Watkins. Ride was very enjoyable today. Was worried the strong wind with raise the misery index but the hills and trees broke it up into managable sections.
