Rained all day yesterday and rode the computrainer inside. Did some speed work and kind of toasted what was left of my legs. It was one of the best days of the year today for riding with warm temperatures and a very slight north wind. Legs didn't feel very good on the way to Watkins and standing up on the steep Pine St was a little painful. After I caught my breath though the legs felt better and had a strong climb up to the tracks on Steuben St cresting at over thirteen. Kept the pressure on up through Reading Center and got some speed in after the hill flattens out. Wind wasn't working against me and that really helped. Used the big chainring vigorously on the downhill to Dundee and finally broke an hour at sixteen four with a minute to spare. Headed up the second climb of the day on SR 14A to Windmill south of Penn Yan. Kept it in the big chainring but rode steady. Bypassed the main drag in Penn Yan by using old RT 14 by the faigrounds. Did well on the minor climb up SR 54A and sped down into Dresden. Stayed on SR 14 long enough to cross the bridge in Dresden before climbing back up onto the ridge. Saw a large group of at least a dozen riders heading north on SR 14. Must be touring season again. Did some math and set my pace so that I would average eighteen for the day. Did pretty well except for going through construction again in Watkins. Had to kick it up a notch on the final two miles to Montour to achieve the eighteen. Was helped by a slight tailwind. Really good climbing today and kept a strong steady speed on everything else. Had a solid ride today.
