Had destroyed the legs on yesterday's adventure and had some serious aches going in my body. Bagged the planned long ride and decided on an easy recovery ride on Johnson Hollow. I wanted to check on the progress of the paving and hoped that it would be completed. Did the reverse direction today and spun painfully up New Corning Hill. Got to the highpoint of the day and hoped to find several miles of fast downhill on new satin pavement but agin found myself mildly disappointed as paving was still in progress. Good news was that the paving appeared to be about halfway complete. Even the stripped base road is an improvement over the old broken pavement. Got stopped by a flag person for what felt like a long time and actually sweated a puddle beneath my bike as I waited. Had some severe heat and humidity going on but hate to complain as it beats snow and frozen toes. Felt a little better when I hit the final downgrade and a good tailwind and tried to pick up the speed. Legs didn't last very long though and was soon back to touring speed. Not a very pleasant ride on the bike today.
