Out to Donaldson to ride the Spinners Tuesday evening ride. I took off a few minutes early but as I approached the next entrance a group was exiting onto the road and I was encapsulated in the group. They took off at a pace faster than what I normally ride, but I had no problem staying with them. I seldom ride in a group, but drafting does allow you to ride much faster than you normally would. I stayed with them for 7 miles, then they took a right hand turn where I go straight and I had to make a quick decision about staying with them or riding my route. I went straight and left the group as I was afraid that if they were riding in unfamiliar roads and I got dropped that I'd have to backtrack my way back to familiar roads. I was over 14 miles out when I heard a very loud clap of thunder, but it was a lone rumble as I heard no others. It was a good ride.
