 10 Mile ITT Fourth Attempt
Didn't do the time trial last night as weather wasn't very nice. Ended up doing it in the morning that worked out fine as it was much cooler and less windy than last week's attempt. Wind was light and out of the southwest so it would be mostly headwind up and tailwind back. Tried harder at the start to accelerate faster and got up to twenty-four but only held it for half a mile before dropping back below twenty. Not the best strategy for getting a fast time overall but might help me get faster quicker. Kept the speed up above twenty for most of the way up after the first mile. Came out of the saddle on the first step and dropped below twenty barely. Stayed in the saddle on the second step and powered through much smoother than last week. Turn around time up was twenty point seven. Thought I was in good shape and started hammering my way back. Kept the speed near thirty for the first mile but gradual ran out of leg. Kept checking my average and figuring how much time I would have to gain at each mile marker and tried to hold that pace. Did well except over the last mile as had to improve average half a mile an hour at each checkpoint and got all but the last one. Average back was just under twenty-six. Thought I had gone slower again until I finished and realized I had done the math wrong. I was trying to beat the time from last week by an extra mile an hour. So ended up failing my self imposed time checks but increased the average by eight tenths of a mile an hour. Had trouble standing steady as I checked my data as had gone all out. Enjoyed the cool down despite the temperature climbing once again into the nineties. Made an improvement but have to do better.
