Have a race again tomorrow but wasn't too worried about straining my legs as can't really do any worse than I did last week as race will depend on red blood cell count more than miles on the legs. Traffic was very heavy through Watkins and was already backed up to near Parmenter's. Had a south wind so opted for the easy climb out on SR14. Got about halfway up and saw another rider up the hill. Took a time check and found he had a forty second lead. Picked up the pace and tried to catch him before he got over the crest and away but although took a good chunk of time off him didn't catch him before the top. He didn't accelerate once cresting and I was able to close on him easy when the grade lessened. Found out he was riding from Ithaca to the Windmill north of Penn Yan and we chatted and rode together to Lakemont where he rode away from me on the climb. We regrouped after the climb but parted ways at Dundee with me heading back over the hill to Reading Center and him climbing toward Penn Yan. Had a decent climb but was pushing myself a little harder than I intended. Had a decent ride and was glad I rode today whether or not it damaged my legs for the race tomorrow.
