Another great June day although a little on the windy side. Started off on a seven mile climb to Townsend which went pretty well for a change. First mile is pretty steep then the remainder is a few upward grades and a couple of flattish sections to give the legs a chance to clean out. After a decent climb had a good fast run into Coopers Plains. It was into a good headwind but being a slight downgrade kind of evened things out. Got a gift from the gods as when I was passing through Corning I found two new long stem presta tubes in the street. Assume they fell from someone's unzipped saddle bag. Don't need them since I use a tubeless system but I'm sure I can find them a good home. Headed out of Corning toward Caton and then did the climb up Whiskey Creek. My hopes that my climbing legs may have returned were dashed as I struggled as usual up the climb. From the top of the climb it was nearly thirty-five miles of downhill and tailwind home. Legs were tired though and never really got things going and was content to return at touring speeds. Received my second gift as I found a good used copy of The Two Towers laying on the shoulder in Pine Valley. I would have preferred cash but I guess I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.
