Got the carbon fiber back out and took a fairly easy ride. Legs were heavy and felt like cement after yesterday's hammerfest. Rode the Swartwood Hill course in reverse which provided twenty five miles of pretty much two percent grade with a couple of short kickers at the highpoint of the day. Made use of the tailwind on the way to Horseheads and really enjoyed the new pavement on SR 14 at least to the Chemung County line where the road shifts back to mildly hazardous. Legs didn't seem to perk up after a few miles as they usually do. Turned into the headwind in Horseheads and continued on my way to Erin. Had hopes of new pavement on the twisting downhill but after a week of paving only a couple of miles of single lane has been accomplished around Erin with nothing done on the downhill. At least only a short section through Erin has been milled. Was even too tired to do much on the two miles of twisting downhill. Final section was seventeen miles of rollers into the wind and for awhile felt like the legs were going to give up the ghost and would have to suffer and struggle all the way home. Just kept the legs turning and they held enough to get me home. Not a good day on the bike for my body, but the bicycle performed well although I have to make a few adjustments to the position of shifters. The new bars had index marks to accurately position the shifters, and I positioned them equally. For some reason though I felt the need to raise the left hand one. Might be a result of having my shoulder rebuilt after having been hit by a truck a few ago. Best part of the ride was getting off at the end.
