Ride Description: GRABAAWR-DAY 7... W/Sue... The day was going well until I came out of the bathroom at the Strawberry Smoothie food stop in Wauzeka, and it was HAILING! We waited out the storm and a fierce 30+ mph headwind started after the first 45 miles. After yesterday, I was determined not to let the wind defeat me mentally. It beat me down a little bit physically, but I felt pretty good today.
The wind was so strong, we would pedal downhill, hard, in the small ring and only go 10 mph! Brutal! At one point the wind almost stopped me in my tracks. In that kind of wind you can close your eyes (briefly) and it feels like you're going 45 mph!
Witnessed a crash, caused by the wind and a flat. No one was hurt, and bikes weren't damaged too bad.
