A lap around Rock Cut test riding the Gary Fisher Hi-Fi Pro 29" & 26" bikes ($3630). I liked the 29er. It was a fun bike to ride. Both bikes handled and rode well.
Sue really liked the 29er a lot.
There's a lot of poison ivy along the trails. The trails are grown in terribly. |

We test rode a Madone 5.5 - W/SRAM Force 50/34 Compact ($4600) 54cm, and a Madone 6.9 Pro - W/Dura-Ace, 52cm.
I loved everything about the 5.5. It was light, stiff, snappy, accelerated quickly, was very comfy, has nice graphics, looked great and is Made in the U.S.A.
The bump absorption was not quite as smooth as a Cannondale Synapse (the only other full carbon bike I have ridden), but it did everything else better.
If I was going to get a new road bike, this might be the one
The 6.9 Pro was nice. Obviously a $7000-$9100 is going to be nice, but it felt very much like my $2200 Six13, but a little lighter and quicker. |
