 Millport ITT VI
Another hot day on the bike. Rode to Logan late in the morning and had a decent climb up Skyline but didn't push it hard as had to do the Thursday time trial in the afternoon. Did try to push the big gear on the run back down 414 but couldn't generate any consistent speed. Nice ride but legs felt flat and didn't bode well for the afternoon festivities.

Wind was out of the WSW which generally generates some fast times on the ITT course. Temperature hovered near ninty but it really wasn't too humid. Started out strong and turned the big gear over for the first two of ten miles. Normally see my minute man breifly at the two mile mark but caught no glimpse of him today despite a better than average split. Put the hammer down for miles three and four and rode at the edge of the red zone. Passed my three and four minute men just before the climb, but still had not spied the elusive minute guy.Pushed over the small hill at the four mark at a good speed but couldn't handle the gear and had to shift down and back off. Tried to spin out the heaviness in my legs on the last mile before the turnaround and hoped thay would recover for some speed work on the way back. Had about twenty seconds on the minute man at the turnaround which wasn't ideal as he had burned me for at least twenty on the backside the last time he rode. Didn't have a good turnaround but it wasn't bad enough to take me out of competition as long as I burned the back nine. Kept good speed and the low 23.6 avg after the turn steadily rose. Never saw my minute guy on the way back but since the most I can generally see is forty-five seconds ahead I figured I was still in the running. Speed dropped too much on Brisbane hill as legs had not recovered as I had hoped and had no spark to generate another surge. Average was 24.6 around RBI and it didn't look like I'd break 25.0 today. Was surprised by the Curse today as it really wasn't too bad and my speed continued to climb and with a desperate sprint down the last descent I was able to finish with a 25.0 average with a time of 23.59. It tied my best time of the year but wasn;t enough to best the minute man who came in with a personel best of 23:45. Was happy with my time though I always want to go faster. Riding steady and strong but need to acquire some spark to be able to keep the speeds in the 30 mph range on the way back.
