Got up very early in the morning to get back up to Rochester for the second race of the series. Had a bad omen on the way as a blackbird flew into my windshield and joined the other road kill. Found the park, registered and took a warm up lap on the course. It started to rain as I was warming up and roads were quite slick. Course was a three and a half mile loop that stared out on a steep climb followed by a very steep descent and another section of rollers that returned to the start. Front wheel almost came out from under me as I descended the downhill and I didn't really feel like racing much. The race started and I held on for a couple of laps but really was struggling and was soon separated from the main group. Had no desire to chase futilely today on wet roads since my legs weren't cooperating, so bagged it and headed for home. Felt bad on the long ride home about quitting but if legs are empty there is no use suffering and straining my back as there is another race tomorrow.
