I've Got Something to Say
|
Did not get any bike riding done today becuase, a)road bike's borrowed rear wheel has a broken spoke, and I haven't been able to get it to the bike shop until this afternoon, and b) commuter still has a flat rear tire, but I did buy some new tubes for it when I dropped off the wheel at the bike shop. While at the shop, the owner, Ron, did tell me that my wheel on order could be in the first part of this week.
My trip to the bike shop was after I rotated the tires on my truck - I've been meaning to do this for a few weeks now. But in order to do that with a little more ease, I finally added hydraulic oil to my floor jack, that was not raising as high as I need it to the last time I used it.
While out & about, after stopping by the bike shop, I stopped by AutoZone to have them read the code on my truck that caused the 'check engine' light to come on during my drive home Thurs evening. The code is the same as I saw late last summer - the throttle body sensor had a reading out of tolerance. I then proceeded to Mr J's Auto Repair Center, run by a friend of ours from bowling league, & opened just 6 weeks ago. After talking with him and having his mechanic run diagnostics, they determined it was operating fine, but I had them install the sensor I bought last summer and reset the light. I tried to replace it last year, but could not loosen the two phillips head screws holding it in place. Google searches stated that they were held in place w/locktite, and folks had Dremel'd the sensor off, used visegrips to remove the screws, and some had to retap before installing the new sendor. As I watched them work on my truck, after a couple attempts w/a screwdriver, they did cut the old one away, before mounting the new sensor.
I can tell already it is working better - the drive home was noticeably smoother than how the truck did last night and on the way to the shop this afternoon. Hopefully the light will stay off for a good while now.
