Fair weather returns and went out to do some more climbing. Weight has dropped enough that I have moved out of the cement truck climbing category into the low end of mediocre climbing class. Had to make a slight detour to get onto Jackson Hill due to some ongoing paving, so it set my time checks off but still had an above average climb up Jackson. I was able to stay out of the saddle for a good portion of the lower section and still maintain fair speed around the steeper corner section and didn't bog down over the final drag. The rest of the climb to Seymoreville was not quite as successful, as I was doing out of the saddle intervals and occasionally had to back off to recover. Went over the top at over eleven and that put me over the average. Had crosswinds to Horseheads and kept a good speed. Almost got hit by a car north of Horseheads on SR 14 before heading up Hickory Grove as a car passed me and cut me off as he/she careened into their driveway. Heavy braking on my part helped avoid a collision. The car following the turning car slowed down and rolled down his window an said, "That was really F**ked up." Just shrugged my shoulders and rode on. Went on to climb the short Hickory Grove and then the much longer Murphy Hill with its steep kicker at the end. No heroics on these climbs and just churned out a steady pace. Didn't do much on the downhill to Chambers nor on the return to Watkins on SR 414. I was happy with the climbing sections and didn't feel like putting the hammer down for the easier sections of the ride. Good day on the bike except for the car interaction.
