 Round the Lake III
Didn't really do much yesterday on what was supposed to be a hard day due to laziness and inclement weather. Planned on rounding Seneca once again and had a decent forecast. Temperature was supposed to rise to 60 F by 9:00 with a light south wind. At 10:00 wind was supposed to start shifting to the north bringing in clouds and rain for the afternoon. Got fairly close to my start time, leaving a little after nine. The south wind showed up as promised and I planned on riding hard, making the best of the tailwind and to make up for yesterday's sloth. Fortune was with me and I actually got through all of the lights in Watkins without having to stop. Pushed the first hill hard and felt pretty good and had a good average over the top to start several miles of rollers. Enjoyed the day and the big chainring as I cranked out the miles. Saw another rider heading south around Glenora which was a first for the three rides I've done this year. Expected the wind to start shifting aroud Glenora but made it to Dresden before the wind started coming from the west. Got to Geneva in under two hours and was set up for a great ride if the wind shifted to the north as promised. Never happened though as the wind continued to blow from the west for the remainder of the ride. Instead of clouding up, the sun stayed out and heated the air up into the low eighties. Was overdressed as I had planned on a high of near seventy. Continued to run well though it wasn't anywhere near as fun or as fast as last week's epic tailwind. Felt good until the top of the climb in Ovid when legs stopped putting out significant wattage. Had enough leg left to maintain speed but couldn't pick up any time even with the twenty miles of downhill after Lodi. Limped back into Montour but average speed was still over a mile an hour faster than last week. Clouds finally started rolling in as finished the ride. Was happy to ride today in the sun and on dry roads.
