 Millport ITT III
Third attempt today at the ten mile. Weather was the best it has been so far. Still not as warm as I would like it but didn't need long sleeves. Winds were very good for the course being out of the NW and abating, so a good tailwind on the way up the grade. Lacked a solid one minute guy again so I gave the rider ahead of me a three minute lead same as last week. Goal was the same as always - don't let speed drop below twenty and break the 25 mph average barrier. Had another weak start but got up enough speed before the first little climb to carry me over the top. Didn't have any hammer but kept steady pressure on the pedals and stayed aero. Had a solid ride going and caught my three minute man around mile four which was a half mile or so later than last week but was happy with the 24 mph average at the turnaround. Had a great turnaround and kept it smooth on the return. Got up into the thirties a couple of times but couldn't hold it for long. Had the 25 at the RBI and all I needed was to hold it over the last mile through the Curse. Couldn't hold speed and dropped down to 21 over the bridge and that was enougth to drop me down to 24.9. Put my head down and sprinted as best I could on the last quarter mile and popped back up to 25.0 with a 23:59 time. Olddad came in fairly soon after with a 31.30 which was a three minute improvement over last week. Didn't have any good miles but had nine very solid ones and only the weak last one.
