On my way to work this morning, just after crossing Airport Rd and making my way to Hanley Rd, I see another cyclist heading down Madison Ave, a couple blocks ahead of me. As I turn onto Madison, he is now heading up Hanley. He continues to lead me on my route as we cross over I-170 on Scudder, then on the connector to McDonnell Blvd where he turns South. I catch up beside him about a half mile later, and strike up a conversation that continues until our paths diverge when I turn East onto Midland Blvd.
Mark lives in Florissant and is heading to work at Monsanto in Creve Couer. He is just getting back into commutting by bike, I think he said this is his third day. I didn't get a chance to hand him a business card or exchange any other info, but hopefully I'll 'run into him' again sometime in the near future.
In the 5 years I've been doing this, he is only the second commuter I've seen heading south on my route - from time to time I see someone heading north, and actually saw someone doing so today, too.
