This morning I took off in the heat to climb the mountain. So it was out East North to Washington to the SRT, then on through Furman, and on to U.S. 25 where I turned around and went back south to cross Poinsett Highway and attack the mountain. Even though the ride from home to the mountain was slow I still thought that better my time up the mountain. While climbing I felt like I was stronger than other times and was confident in bettering my time. About half way up the mountain it looked like the bill of my riding cap had sprung a leak and was dripping liquid at better than a drop per second. I stayed on the attack but when I was about 4 minutes from the top I knew that I had nothing left in the tank. Once across the line I was 56 seconds off my best time.
I went on up tower road to the summit and spent about 15 minutes in prayer for a good friend of mine that is facing difficulties. Then it was back down the mountain and back home. While down in the bottom along a lonely street I met a hawk sitting on the ground out in the open about 25 feet off the street. It was keeping a good eye on me. Even though I didn't better my climb time, it was still a good ride.
