I planned on going out to do the typical Monday Night Ride tonight, despite the temp being near 100 & the heat index being even higher, but I wrapped up work late. It didn't help that I had a quick phone call from work (I worked from home today) just as I was wrapping up at 4:30. Plus, just prior to that call I had just gotten of the phone with a claims adjuster from American Family Insurance - the ins company of the driver that hit me on Thurs. And, since I worked from home today (so I could take my truck to the auto body shop for a quote, etc.), I did not have any of my clothes, bottles or anything ready to go, so I felt I'd be rushing around to get it all together, then decide whether to use the truck or wait for Jacque to get home & load the bike into the PT Cruiser again. All this, then getting out to the soccer park later than I like would leave me feeling that I'd have to 'rush' through the ride when I would rather just take it at a brisk pace, especially with the heat warning.
So I stayed home, missing the Monday Night Ride for the 4th week in a row, and ended up mowing the backyard after Jacque mowed the front.
And it looks like I'll miss the ride next Monday too, due to a committee meeting at church - that just means I'll be riding to work, to church then to home. I better make sure my lights are charged & working - its been a couple months since I've had to use them!
