Smitty Cruise 2010 Day 2 - A Day at Sea

We woke up this morning out in the Pacific Ocean, heading north. Honestly, I didn’t think that one would feel the ship being pushed & heaved by typical swells like this. The slight seas in the morning turned to mild seas into the afternoon and evening, and I, not Jacque, was the one having problems tolerating them. And this was a full day at sea, making our way from Seattle to Glacier Bay, Tuesday’s destination.

One of the onboard events during the day was called Smingo – that’s bingo w/a ‘Sm’ from Smitty. There was a suggested donation of $20/set of bingo cards, with additional donations gladly accepted. All proceeds were being given to Samaritan’s Purse – a not-for-profit ministry head by Franklin Graham – and the money would be used by the ministry Samaritan’s Purse is already doing in Alaska. There were some fabulous prizes for winners of the four rounds of smingo: a $100 gift certificate to the onboard Smitty & Friends store, a guitar signed by all the artists aboard the cruise, a gold record from MWS, and the hand-written lyrics to the song Friends. Sorry to say we didn’t win any of them; we were both hoping for the lyrics as that was a song that was sung at our wedding.

We had two other cruise guests join us at our dinner table – Duncan & Angie from Edmonton, AB. They have an exterior stateroom with a balcony and decided to order room service and enjoy the view from there as we left port Sunday evening. Well, after excusing myself once from the table and returning, I had to call our evening short just as our entrees were being delivered to the table because I was feeling nauseous.

Jacque & I returned to our room & I laid down on the bed. I started feeling better about an hour later, by then it was to late to attend our event of the evening titled "Cho West Young Man". This event featured comedian Henry Cho and musical guest Matthew West – the rest of the title comes from a CD published by Michael W Smith back in the 80’s called Go West Young Man.
