 MIllport ITT VIII
Was watching le tour in the morning and it was the big climbing day in the Alps. Watched the big boys go over the first couple of climbs then figured I had time to get a quick ride in before the boys attacked the last hill. Returned to Jackson Hill and wanted to see if I could improve on yesterday's time. Spent a good amount of time out of the saddle and fast spun the rest and did beat yesterday's time by over half a mile an hour. Didn't want to do any damage to my legs with a time trial in the afternoon so didn't repeat all of yesterday's climbing and instead headed down Middle Road. Coasted down to Burch Hill Rd then headed back to SR 14. Had good speed on the bike down the course and was easily holding a twenty-five mph average for most of the way without really doing much work. Figured I would at least have a good second half on the TT bike this afternoon if the winds stayed the same.

Legs still felt good as I warmed up on the timetrial bike. Would be riding solo again as the regulars either have injuries or are saving thier legs for a triathalon this weekend. Temperature was a little over eighty but it didn't feel to hot. Started off into a light headwind and it showed up in my timechecks. Down five in the first, tried to make up time in the second and did only to lose it and more in the third. Did note a good headwind going out in the curse and figured it wouldn't be shutting me down in the last mile as long as the wind didn't change in the next fifteen minutes. Mile four and five were slower than normal, but I did keep the speed above twenty on all the short climbs. Had a poor time at the turnaround and was thirty seconds down from a solid ride with an average speed of 23.0 after a difficult turnaround. Still the math said I only needed to maintain twenty-seven on the way back to break the twenty-five mph barrier which actually seemed doable as long as the wind stayed the same in the curse. Hit the pedals hard and concentrated on staying aero and as close to thirty as I could on the flats and downhills. Had fast legs and good speed for a majority of the ride but slowed down a little too much for comfort on the climb by Brisbane's. Started doing the math in the final mile and determined I would have to best thirty through the curse. Turned out to be no problem and crossed the finish with a time of 23:34 and a 25.4 mph average. Turned in the best time of the year for me and gave me hope of better faster times to come.
