I headed down to Cleveland Park for the Ice Cream ride, but nobody was there. I realized that Ken hadn't sent out an email saying that it was on or off so I took a chance. But nobody was there so I headed on north for some ice cream on my own. I took a new route to get to Broad Street and cut across downtown. That worked fairly well for me. The temp was moderate in the upper 80s but the humidity is pretty high. I felt strong riding today and after watching so much of the TdF I kept hearing the theme song while riding.
I made the Creamery and Judy was working with Jenn today. I had a small lemon/lime twist. Very good! In TR the clouds looked very menacing just north so I hustled back down the trail. I was pelted several times by large rain drops, but never got caught in a rain. I got hit hard in the corner of my left eye by some large flying insect. Later I got hit again on the collar bone inside my left shoulder. I don't know what kind of bugs they were but they had a hard shell and hit me pretty hard. I saw Ron H on the trail again today.
I am still tweaking my ride through Overbrook to get up the big hill along East North, but I think that I have it down now. even though I was expecting a group ride I enjoyed the solo ride and the ice cream was great.
