I took off down East North to Cleveland Park and was cutting through town when I realized that I wasn't wearing my helmet. So I cut through town to Main Street and down to Park Avenue and headed back to the house and get my helmet. By then I was 7 miles into the ride, so I decided to take my regular route to Furman and back to get in a quarter. I had a road bike in a light blue and white kit get on my tail just after I crossed Blue Ridge, so I bumped my speed from 18 to 20 (the Speed limit on the Swamp Rabbit) and held 20 the rest of the way to Furman with him right on my 6. On the way home I was going crossing Hudson Street on Washington when a burgundy van blew by me and nearly hooked me. I almost got his rear quarter panel and I did call him an idiot. Since I had gone home earlier that meant that I had to climb the East North Street hill twice.
