Thought it best to take a day off yesterday as had some colorful bruises and sore, stiff muscles after Sunday's fall. Weather forecast was less than ideal as a 17 mph steady wind was blowing out of the west and temperatures were going to be in the mid-ninties. Wasn't sure how the back would support climbing but thought today was as good a day as any to try it out. After a slow start to Watkins headed up Mud Lake to Tyrone. Stayed out of the wind at least on the six mile climb and spun off the first thousand feet of climb fairly well. Other than some early steep stuff the grade is moderate for most of the climb. Did my best aero tuck on the descent down Sebring Hill, which is usually a fifty plus treat, but could only get up to forty-five in the headwind. Next climb was over Telegraph Hill to Bath. Did okay on the steep stuff again but couldn't get much speed up on the lesser grades as the course was still dead on into the wind. Had a good ride to 415 and thought I could push the big gear back to Cooper Plains for thestart of the next climb but found myself guzzling my water to maaintain a high pace. Went through my three bottles in forty miles and still had twenty-five to go with a couple of climbs. Went into survival mode coming back up the grade to Monteray and watched the average speed drop. Was pretty dryed out as I crested the final climb over out of Townsend by the track but only suffered some minor cramping. Draped myself over the bike on the final five mile descent to home. Climbed well again today but didn't have anything left for the flats. Turned into a long hard ride and didn't seem to get much support from the wind.
