Enjoyed by ride out to Wayne over the weekend so I thought I would head back to the Northwest Quadrant to do some more climbing and descending. It was a little cooler today but much more humid than yeaterday. My jersey was soaked and clinging to me as I made the first long climb out of Watkins. Tucked a little better on the descent of Sebring today and just got it up to 55 mph but couldn't get any more speed out of it. Second series of climbs out of Bradford was less humid but I was besieged by deerflies. The grades in this sectiom are in the low teens and I was not able to outrun the pesky bloodsuckers. Most kept behind me and I could see the shadow of the massive swarm on the ground beneath me. Fortunately there was enough crosswind that appeared to make it too difficult for them to light on me. Killed a couple that landed clumsily on my arms and escaped unbitten. Had a good descent to Bath and caught a good following crosswind down 415 to Coppers Plains. Made the turn unto Meads Creek road and the fun was over as it was dead into a headwind. Suffered for twenty miles on the long climb steady climb to Townsend. Finished the ride tired and dried out.
