TT Bike to Horseheads & Ice Cream Ride
Took the time trial bike up the road to Horseheads and thought I would do some high speed riding on the return trip with the downhill and tailwind. Legs were not really cooperating today and felt leadened. Had quite a lot of traffic on the route and lots of congestion at the antique tractor show. Had a few old farmers wandering aimlessly in the middle of the road which caused me some concern as I navigated around them. Thought I might see some other cyclists being a Saturday morning and a popular road but was disappointed. Rode the old team time trial route which goes through Hanover Square and put it in the big gear on the way back. Got some good speed going but actually backed off in quite a few places as the road crews have recently sprayed tar on the cracks in the road surface which created some elaborate combinations of raised rounded surfaces which caused my bike to feel hinkey. Took a cool down lap into Watkins after the ride.

Took the kayaks to the lake and paddled for a couple of hours with Gary then ended the day with an evening ride on the extended Alpine route. Had huge amounts of garbage thrown out of cars along 224. Got to love the tourists here for the concert. Worst I've ever seen the road and that includes several years of NASCAR fans. We were going to stop for ice cream at the junction but decided to keep riding. Beautiful night for riding. Stopped and listened to the live band at the Moose Club for awhile at the bottom of Jackson Hill.
