Took yesterday off for recovery and it paid off as legs felt fresh. Went off to climb a couple of moderate hills including the twisting ascent of Swartout near Van Etten. Decided to try fast spinning on the hills and worked very well on new Odessa as with a following wind I spun up for my best time of the year at 7:57. Felt great to break eight but need to get it down to at least seven thirty to be considered a good climb. Encouraged by the decent climb I kept the pressure on and rode the tailwind to the Junction and easily beat the timecheck by two minutes. Encountered a slight problem at the Junction as 224 was closed before Cayuta for I assume a new bridge and had to detour a couple of miles down 13 to get back on course. Had a great tailwind pushing me through the rollers to Van Etten and got to the bottom of the climb with an eighteen five average. Legs held out on the climb up Swartout and spun steadily and pushed over the top in still in good shape. Hammered the downhill through Breezeport and a good deal of the way to Hanover square. Easy riding stopped there as I had to do the last fifteen into the previously friendly wind. Struggled a little to the top of the ridge in Pine Valley then kept the spin going on the downgrade to home. Ended up with a nineteen average which is a big improvement for me on a climbing course. had a fantastic ride on one of my favorite courses.
