 10 mi ITT Fifth Attempt
Took yesterday off to recover from the brutal beating I took at Liberty and weather wasn't very good as well. Although it was near sixty yesterday, the high humidity and nasty north winds made it feel quite a bit colder than the temperature indicated. After spending the night down south the air returned today in much better condition. Made another attempt to improve my ITT. Conditions were ideal as there with a slight southern breeze. I had my best start today and was able to get the speed up to twenty-five to the start of the upgrade and held good speed over the first mile. Had to start spinning more instead of mashing the pedals over the second mile and that produced good results. I wasn't able to pull twenty over the first step though it was close. I was only able to hold the speed at nineteen for the next mile and average dropped quite a bit. Speed dropped to sixteen over the second step but didn't have as much lag as usual and was able to get average moving back up to the turnaround. Had a clean turnaround today and started the downgrade at a twenty-one-point two average. I had poor acceleration after the turn around but eventually got up to speed and was able to hold a twenty-six average on the return leg. Didn't show much improvement on the back section but had put enough effort in the first two miles to improve my overall average to twenty-three-point six. Final time was 25.24.
