 Triple Figures
Temperature was projected to top 100 today. Took the morning ride to Logan. Had a good tailwind up the climb. It was very hot but there was enough wind to evaporate the sweat from my body and with the short ride staying hydrated wasn't a problem. Had a decent climb up skyline and also on the climb to Logan. Thought it would be a difficult ride back in the wind, but although there was a good stiff breeze it didn't seem to have much force to it and had a good pace back to Watkins. Average speed kept increasing until I got to Watkins where it started dropping as I navigated through numerous stop lights and stop signs. It was a fun ride and the heat was never really a factor.

Waited until late in the day for my afternoon ride. Didn't time trial today due to heat and projected heavy winds. Air and roads were blast furnace hot when not in the shade. Actually felt like I was under a heat lamp. Wind was blowing fairly hard but as was the case this morning it had no force to it. Took it fairly easy on the way to Millport as I thought I would have to climb straight into the west wind on the climb out of Millport but after making the turn the wind didn't show up and I picked the speed way up. Had a really high cadence as I passed through the thin air and it really felt like I was flying on the flat sections. Felt really strong in the the heat and was hoping it was melting some of my fat layer off. Turned out to be one of the best rides of the year and probably could have got a better average speed if I hadn't milked the first seven miles.
