Legs were tired so decided on an easy ride. Normally my default easy ride is just up the valley to Millport with a minor climb turnaround and straight back down the valley. But now since I'm supposed to be working on my climbing decided to head up Johnson Hollow in Millport instead of turning around. Thought I would have an easy start with a stiff north wind at my back up the valley. Quickly found out that my voluntary easy pace became mandatory as could only manage to keep a twelve mile an hour pace. Tried to up it a little occasionally but legs would have no part. Survived the short steep section at the start of the hollow but soon found myself falling back into slow ride mode. Good news was my first eight miles were so slow I didn't lose much on the climb. Finished off the thirteen miles of climbing and hoped to do better on the downhill section. Didn't gain much as now had to ride a few miles into the wind. Got the average up to fourteen on the descent on SR 414N into Watkins but could barely hold on to it on my way home even though the last two flat miles were tailwind. Not a very joyful ride. Had little energy today and that made an easy ride a bit difficult.
