 Heat Continues
Having no events to go to this weekend since the Tour de Bemus was cancelled, I decided to do some climbing. Had a really smooth climb up Jackson Hill despite the heat and continued climbing up Ridge Road. Got to the top of the climb with a 12 mph average which is a good speed for me. After the seven mile climb it was all sweet downhill to Horseheads. Had a good tailwind and kept speed in the thirties until the turn. Legs just kept giving today and had good speed back to Montour down SR 14 despite the slight headwind. Felt strong the entire ride and think the hot weather is making me stronger. Probably has to do with being lighter from dehydration which will catch up with me at some point.

Decided to check out the Sullivinville route for the afternoon ride. Sullivinville used to be popular until SR 13 got so torn up that it was no longer safe to ride. Heard a rumor that it was being repaved and had high hopes as I set out. Hot again on the climb to Odessa but legs continued to sing and spun up it easily.Had another good climb on the ascent out of Alpine although it really isn't a bad climb at two miles long as it seldom gets over five percent grade. Was disappointed that they hadn't paved the climb or the descent. This section of SR 13 generally has fairly heavy traffic, cratered or disappearing shoulder and makes the high speeds somewhat perilous. The road has been paved from Sullivinville to Horseheads which is a step in the right direction. Still did some speedwork on the descent and kept up the pace back down SR 14 producing the second sweet ride of the day.
