Had planned to get up early and try to beat the heat but got involved watching the time trial in Le Tour. Didn't get started until well after noon but decided to enjoy the heat regardless as this is the last day of the wave in this area. Took the touring route instead of the express which is actually a few miles longer but has less climb and so stayed up on the ridge for the western leg of ride. Wind was in my face for the first forty miles and really seemed to be putting a damper on the festivities. Saw a few Amish cyclists out today up on the ridge and the heat didn't appear to be bothering them despite being a bit more overdressed than me. Made the turn in Geneva and rode up the East Lake Road rather than my normal 96A route. Headed up the hill to Ovid to top of the fluids as I had gone through three large bottles in the sixty miles and body was also showing signs of drying out. Caught a taiwind on the final climb to Ovid and my average speed actually picked up on the climb. Had some lunch at McDonald's then headed back home. Had a thought about heading over the hill to T-Burg and getting some ice cream but the tailwind was lined up nice for a return on SR 414. The last twenty-five miles was very enjoyable as my legs appear to have perked up with the addition of the food and a tailwind. Saw another cyclist climbing to Hector in a Army jersey. He appeared to be draped over the bike and did not appear to be enjoying the ride as much as I was going downhill.
