I was supposed to get a time trial in today but wasn't feeling it and opted for a slow touring day instead. Headed out to Cayutaville that required about a thousand feet of climbing. Unless you head south out of town an unavoidable ascent is required. Opted for Old Odessa Hill which needed a bit of effort at the bottom but after that it is a mild grade to Odessa, Spun through the forest and then through the open fields to Cayutaville and descended into Mecklenburg. Bypassed the climb and headed down to Perry City then headed toward Reynoldsville. I wanted to tour some backroads but couldn't find any routes through Hector Land Use Forest that didn't require a long climb over the hill at Steamsburg or worse steep gravel climbs. Legs felt good and wanted to do some more miles at a relaxed pace and added a loop to Logan. Had to do a couple of short duration mild grade climbs but was rewarded with a scenic descent down the Logan Road to SR 414. Caught a tailwind along the lake but didn't want to spoil the good ride with trip through Watkins with its numerous traffic light and bumper to bumper traffic. Ended up climbing to Burdett via Tug Hollow that just received new pavement before finishing with a descent down Skyline to home. Ended up doing quite a bit of climbing despite my efforts to avoid climbing but had a very relaxing ride today.
