Today was another climbing day with a metric century range. I did three fair climbs today with the first being the two mile climb up Dug Road. I made an effort but didn't end up with a very good time. Second climb was up through Moreland and felt good on the climb but really don't have any metrics to determine whether it was good or bad for me. I didn't crack or really suffer and kept a steady pace. There was a stiff headwind on SR 414 into Corning, but legs were putting out good watts on the rolling slight downgrade and was surprised that I held the speed I did. Still had to push the headwind down River Road and on 352 back to Elmira and really started to appreciate the speed of the headwind over that section. Final climb of the day was the Drive-In\SPCA hill that I think is called Harris Hill Rd though I couldn't find any road signs. It's a couple miles long with several varying grade but not much over ten percent and seven hundred and fifty feet of ascent. Tried to climb fast enough to keep the horseflies from landing and feeding on me. Slapped off a couple but didn't get bit. Stopped at the overlook and watched the tow plane hauling the sail planes out over the valley before descending back to Elmira on the West Hill Rd. I was looking forward to doing some speed work with the blasting tailwind over the last ten miles but had a flat when going under RT 86 in Horseheads. After changing the tube, I couldn't get the legs working again and ended up mainly coasting the final miles. Day started out really well but devolved at the end. Still had a couple good sections and really enjoyed watching the planes on Harris Hill.
