Back started tightening up yesterday morning so took the day off for rest and recovery. Wasn't a good strategy as the pain got progressively more intense as the day wore on. Hit the medication pretty hard to try to get to sleep and finally achieved that goal around four AM. Woke up pain free but exhausted and decided to take an easy ride as the resting thing didn't work out very well yesterday. Looks like I'm going to have the pain whether I ride or not. Wasn't sure if the lack of pain was being caused by lingering pain killers so I opted for a fairly easy but moderate ride down Swartout Hill and arranged to be evacuated if the back seized up during the ride. Spun easy to Horseheads up SR 14 and had no pain but really felt tired. Didn't make either much effort or speed into the headwind. Turned out of the wind in HH and continued the mild climbing grade out through Breezeport. Ride is pretty much twenty-five miles of one to two percent steady grade with a couple of small steps to get to the top of Swartout. Used to prefer this direction as it is a fast two mile twisting decent down to Van Etten but realized after the descent that I now much prefer climbing it. Once to the bottom of the hill it is a few miles of rollers back to Alpine and then flatish until Odessa were I finished with the long downhill. Wasn't a bad ride although really didn't do much but spin easily. Good news is that it appears that my tailbone injury from my fall seems to have completely healed.
