I took off on this humid holiday for a morning ride. As I was coming out of Cleveland Park a couple went by me going up to Camperdown Way. I followed them up the hill and down Camperdown when I saw that the turning lanes at the top of Falls Street were barricaded. I went back to the F-86 to get on the trail and up. Furman Way but Falls Park was blocked off as well. So I went on up the hill and got on Augusta to River Street and onto the trail. The trail was packed! I picked my way through the joggers, walkers, bikes, and everything else while fighting the wind up the trail. I rode to the trailhead where the couple that passed me at Camperdown were taking a drink. Coming out of Travelers Rest I fell in behind a couple that were chasing a young girl. When the trail was clear she would take off with one of them chasing her. Then they would wait if the traffic got heavy or they came to a crossing. I passed them a little north of Furman and came up on a guy running my speed, but once I was in his slipstream I stopped pedaling.i passed uim and he got on my wheel and away we went. We got caught up in traffic and the family caught us at Sulphur Springs. When we took off the mother yelled at me to take off and chase her daughter to give her a good run, so we took off. I chased her hard to Blue Ridge. The whole group chased, chatted, and laughed on down to the Cafe. I got off, then the guy came in, then the family came in. I got a pair of blueberry peach shortbreads and an iced tea. Once outside I ran into the couple from Camperdown again.
