Pretty hot today and a little windier than I really like. Thought about taking the day off as have a really long ride scheduled for tomorrow but opted for an medium length ride at an easy pace. Legs didn't have much in them on the climb to Odessa but spun nice through Alpine despite the headwind. Have a couple saddle sores that started to cause some problems as I cruised through the rollers to Van Etten. Spun Swartout Hill in a very low gear and it turned to be the best part as usual of the ride. The twisting climb is two miles long with the first mile a shallow grade in a deep chasm along a creek. Coolness generated by the deep shade and bubbling stream felt provided welcome relief from the sun. Last half of the climb opens up quite a bit and grade goes up to ten percent but it still twists around and you can see most of the road as you climb ever upward. Did very little work on the downhill to Erin nor down to Breezeport as pedaling just seemed to empower those pesky saddle sores. Did start to jam on the pedals on the way back down SR14 as really wanted to average at least fifteen and got that and a little more out of the ride. Fair ride today despite the heat and humidity.
