Another beautiful day sunny with a north wind. Decided on a long ride today with only moderate climbing to set up a long ride tomorrow with extensive climbing. Caught the tailwind up New Odessa and had a normal climb. Made the time check to the Junction with little effort thanks to the tailwind. Took the Smith road to bypass the bridge out on SR 224 rather than using the longer official detour. Kept good pace on the rollers to Van Etten and spun over the Wyncoop climbs. Had a nice cruise to Chemung and saw a couple of riders heading the opposite direction. Stopped at Chemung and sampled some junk food and watched the world from a picnic table. Came back Maple Avenue and passed a couple of real tourists headed east loaded down with camping gear. Speed stayed stagnant passing through Elmira and then Horseheads. Picked the pace up a little from Pine Valley to the finish despite the headwind. Good ride and a good pace for a relaxed effort.
